Feature Article in The Dominion Post Highlights GATC's Role in Advancing A28 Therapeutics' Lead Drug Candidate
IRVINE, CA, USA – January 22, 2025 – GATC recently utilized its groundbreaking AI platform, Multiomics Advanced Technology™ (MAT), to analyze A28 Therapeutics' lead drug candidate for liver cancer. The report summarizes the treatment’s safety, efficacy, and side-effect profiles and was the subject of a recent article in West Virginia's The Dominion Post.
Business and healthcare reporter David Beard interviewed GATC Chief Business Officer Tyrone Lam and A28 Therapeutics founder and CEO Stanley Lewis for the story.
Excerpted from the story:
Lewis characterized the analysis as the equivalent of an army of PhDs pooling their talents. It was helpful to learn things that weren’t obvious that might help them tweak the developmental protocol, timing, or dosage.
“If this can give you a little bit more confidence, de-risk your program, you can save a lot of time, you can save a lot of money by learning from this,” instead of trial and error. “We’re excited to introduce this new AI-enabled approach to drug development. We think it’s going to improve the efficacy in the way we develop drugs and help us de-risk and avoid some pitfalls in this process.”
Lewis stated that roughly 90% of drugs that go into development fail. All the mistakes cost money. “By the time you get one that works, you spend a lot of money on others that fell by the wayside. This is one of the ways that I think AI can really, really help.”
