The new AI platform is expected to radically cut the cost of developing new drugs and dramatically increase how many of them succeed and make it to market, said William Vincent Padula, a professor of pharmaceutical and health economics at the University of Southern California.

"It is a game changer," said Padula, who is not linked to GATC or the AI platform.

"It takes the risk out of running clinical trials," he added. "It means that more investors are going to be certain that if they put money into a biotech company to develop a new technology, that their money is not going to be wasted...Knowing that there is a safety net and using AI means that money is going to be more safely invested."
