GATC Health Presents AI-Driven Drug Discovery at 14th Annual West Virginia Bioscience Summit
IRVINE, Calif., October 28, 2026 – Last week, GATC Health, a tech-bio company powering drug discovery and development with its Operon® AI platform, took the stage at the 14th Annual West Virginia Bioscience Summit. Operating a state-of-the-art laboratory in Morgantown in partnership with West Virginia University (WVU) and the state, GATC Health is deeply invested in the region’s rapidly expanding life sciences sector.
During the summit, Dr. Robert Tinder, GATC Health’s Head of Chemical Research and Development, participated as a featured speaker on the Life Science Company panel moderated by BioWV Board Chair John Maher. The event highlighted the momentum within the state’s life sciences industry, driven by strategic partnerships and world-class research institutions.
For GATC Health, the Summit served as an opportunity to highlight its deep roots and growing investment in West Virginia.
“West Virginia is rapidly becoming a premier hub for bioscience innovation, and GATC Health is incredibly proud to be a part of that transformation,” said Dr. Tinder. “Having our lab right here in Morgantown has allowed us to tap into an incredible ecosystem of talent and state support. Sitting on this panel and seeing the sheer caliber of innovation happening across the state is truly inspiring. Together, we are proving that West Virginia can lead the world in next-generation healthcare solutions.”
GATC Health’s AI platform, Operon, was used to discover GATC-1021, a highly promising new drug candidate targeting Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), Substance Use Disorder (SUD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). GATC-1021 was synthesized and tested in GATC’s West Virginia lab and is currently showing favorable results. By creating breakthrough treatments for conditions that deeply impact local and national communities, GATC Health is demonstrating the real-world power of AI-driven medicine. GATC Health’s Derisq® report is now trusted and utilized by Lloyd’s of London, the world’s largest insurance marketplace, when selecting Clinical Trail Insurance Financing.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have an innovator like GATC Health firmly planted in West Virginia,” said Bryan Brown, Executive Director of the West Virginia Biosciences Association. “They are a true partner to our state, bringing world-class AI and tangible investment to our communities. Having Dr. Tinder on this year’s panel highlights exactly the kind of forward-thinking, high-impact science we are cultivating here. We look forward to a long and deeply collaborative relationship as they continue to grow.”
As West Virginia continues to expand its footprint in the global life sciences industry, the collaboration between disruptive companies like GATC Health, state organizations, and leading academic institutions like Marshall University and WVU ensures the state will remain at the forefront of medical breakthroughs for decades to come.
